By increasing hardware performance, the Macintosh SE/30 extends the Macintosh architecture by increasing the performance of all the layers. For example, applications will run up to four times faster on the Macintosh SE/30 than on the SE.

The Macintosh SE/30 extends the architecture by providing the hardware support for future advances in software, such as those which will use the Paged Memory Management Unit.
